This group was performing last night at the Sherwin-Gilmore Party Center at the Dinner Reception in honor of Alexander Ghindin - a spectacular pianist, the winner of the 2007 Grand Prize of the Cleveland International Piano Competition.

Igor Efimov, PhD - columnist for GZT.ru

Igor Efimov, PhD - scientist. He worked at the Cleveland Clinic, on of the best cardiac center in the world. Later - at the Case Western Reserve University - one of the oldest centers of biomedical engineering in the world. Now he is at the Washington University in St.Louis, at the medical school which is one of the to three in the USA. He is also an entrepreneur in the field of cardiology. He lives in St.Louis, the city of Mark Twain, right on the Mississippi River. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Russian American Medical Association and the vice-president of the Russian-speaking Academic Science Association.


Игорь Ефимов - ученый. Он работал в Кливлендской Клинике, лучшем в США кардиологическом центре. Потом - в университете Case Western Reserve, одном из старейших факультетов биомедицинской инженерии в мире. Теперь он работает в Washington University в Сент-Луисе, медицинская школа которого входит в тройку лучших в США. Помимо науки занимается предпринимательской деятельностью в области кардиологии. Живет в Сент-Луисе, городе Марка Твена, на Миссисипи. Игорь - член совета директоров Russian American Medical Association и вице-президент Russian-speaking Academic Science Association.

RAMA and Team NEO

On February 25, the RAMA team met with the Team NEO (Northeast Ohio). The main topic of our discussion was development of the business cooperation between Ohio and several regions in Russia using RAMA Medical Missions Program as a vehicle.

The letter from Jay Foran:

Dear all,

Thanks for meeting with me today to discuss a variety of opportunities to increase the level of economic exchange and investment between Northeast Ohio and select regions of Russia.  Jorge, thanks for including me in this meeting!

Per our meeting today I will take the following steps:

1. Assemble Ohio marketing packages for RAMA to be delivered to Russia. These marketing packages will be used to tell the Northeast Ohio story to interested parties in Russia.
2. Work with local business institutions to identify 5 to 10 companies that have a near term interest in expanding their business to Russia. Once assembled, this information will be shared with the RAMA group.

Following Boris’ trip to Russia and hopefully, the identification of prospective Russia-based companies interested in Northeast Ohio, I will work directly with you and/or these companies to develop an agenda for their visit to our region. Lastly, please visit www.clevelandplusbusiness.com and www.clevelandplusbiomedical.com to learn more about our region and our biomedical competence.  

I look forward to working with each of you to advance the business and medical opportunities between Russia and Northeast Ohio.

Meeting at the Cleveland Clinic

Today our team (Yakov Elgudin, Mike Malone, Diana Gurley, David Montgomery and I) met with the senior leadership of the Cleveland Clinic. 


We discussed potential partnership arrangements between RAMA and the Cleveland Clinic, which could prove beneficial to both parties. We reached a tentative agreement that Cleveland Clinic will help us with bringing doctors and medical administrators to Cleveland for training and development.

There are many ideas and possibilities that we have to study further, and we have our work cut out for us. However, the team is elated that we have at least ‘opened the door’ to future cooperative efforts with this prestigious world-class medical institution. This is just a beginning.

2010 RAMA-Ohio New Years Ball

2010 RAMA-Ohio New Years Ball and 5th annual meeting was held in Cleveland, Ohio at the Landerhaven Conference Center. The welcome letter from the US Senator George Voinovich was read by his assistant George Brown.

Dr. Boris Vinogradsky presented an overview of the RAMA work during 2009 and plans for the future. Dr. Yakov Elgudin briefly talked about his work in the city of Kemerovo, Russia - the medical mission for Siberian Pediatric Heart Project. The Most Valuable Person Award for 2009 was presented to Dr. Boris Vinogradsky.

Yesterday, January 22, 2010 I, for the first time, had a chance to see and listen to the father of the Russian independent sonf movement "avtorskaya pesnya". It was unforgettable.

Russian Medical Conference in Washington, DC

The dates for the 7th Joint Conference are final - October 22-24, 2010. For the first time we will be joined by a large group of Russian scientists and this conference from now on will be organized together by RAMA, RADA and RASA. RASA plans to start their part on October 21st.
